44 years ago, yesterday (October 1st), the original version of the classic, independent horror film Night of the Living Dead (that saw quite a few remakes plus sequels) premiered.
The film’s plot revolves around a group of strangers that find temporary refuge in a Pennsylvania farmhouse only to discover that a mysterious source of radiation in the small town has brought dead folks back to life. They now must fight for their lives as these zombies maliciously attack them.
When it was released, the film was deemed too gory but it eventually won critical acclaim and has, as a result, been preserved by the National Film Registery. Due to an oversight by the distributor, the film is a part of public domain and can be torrented, free of charge, thanks to the Internet Archive.
